A Christmas market or a flight from winter to summer?
Budapest Airport’s winter schedule is here
– A diverse schedule awaits passengers in winter; more than 185 destinations, even more flights to Scandinavia and more frequent flights to Asia from the capital’s airport
– Plenty of opportunities to explore Christmas markets
– From winter to summer: a new Egyptian destination on the horizon
In aviation, the summer season officially ends on the day the clocks change, so the winter schedule period begins on 25 October. Although we are saying goodbye to the nice weather in Hungary for a while, we do not have to give up on a diverse range of flights even during the colder months. Diversification and increased flight frequencies remain the main focus of Budapest Airport’s winter schedule, and among the more than 185 destinations, a new addition—the Egyptian coastal city of Marsa Alam—has also been included.
Long trips instead of short periods of daylight
Compared to last year’s winter schedule, 10 percent more bookable seats are available to passengers, primarily as a result of increased frequencies on popular existing routes.
If you have wisely saved some of your vacation days for the end of the year, or if you are looking to kick off the new year with an unforgettable, long trip, it is especially worth taking advantage, for example, of Budapest Airport’s Far East offerings, which feature a more frequent and flexible schedule for the 2026/27 winter season. In the new season, daily flights will operate to Budapest from Shanghai and Beijing, while direct flights between Guangzhou and the Hungarian capital will run three times a week. The expanding Asian service network provides convenient connecting options to several Southeast Asian destinations. If you are planning such a trip, be sure to take local weather conditions into account when choosing your travel dates, to avoid the monsoon season.

Within Europe, flexibly
The strategy of increasing frequencies is also a key focus in the intra-European schedule, which is great news for travelers planning a long weekend, a short city break or a trip to explore the Christmas markets.
The number of seats available to the Scandinavian region will increase by 35% compared to the last winter season; Wizz Air will operate four weekly flights to Oslo, making the Norwegian forests and mountains more inviting than ever—provided we can handle the cold.
However, if your goal is to enjoy leisurely city strolls and embrace the hygge lifestyle rather than winter hiking, it is also worth keeping an eye on the schedule of SAS Scandinavian Airlines, as the carrier will operate two daily flights between Copenhagen and Budapest on several days in November and December.
This year, passengers can book 50% more seats on board for trips to Poland—a destination that’s growing in popularity—7.4% more for the Baltic region, with its fairytale-like medieval towns, and 12% more for Spain, with its ever-vibrant atmosphere, compared to the 2025 winter schedule.
The festive lights only enhance the United Kingdom’s misty, mysterious and inimitable atmosphere. One of the key new features of the winter schedule is the expansion of connections to the United Kingdom, which primarily supports inbound travel during the holiday season, but also offers exciting destinations for outbound travelers. easyJet is launching four new routes to Belfast, Bristol, Liverpool and London Southend from Budapest. The new London route will operate year-round, while the other three will commute twice weekly from mid-November through the end of December, offering a convenient option for both inbound and outbound travelers seeking a year-end getaway to the world of Christmas markets and festive lights. With these new connections, easyJet’s Budapest network will expand from three to eleven routes over the course of three years.
From winter to summer: A new Egyptian Destination
Wizz Air’s flight to Marsa Alam is a brand-new addition to the network—an ideal destination for those who want to escape the cold for a little while longer, or are just now making up for a missed summer vacation. This Egyptian city lies on the western coast of the Red Sea, and in addition to relaxing on the beach, visitors can also go diving, watch sea turtles and go on a desert safari.
